So, for example if you want to run a backup program that transfers the userprofiles to a NAS drive under the real Administrator, it may not help you. Now, if I checked the check box "Run this program as an administrator" then I have to typed in the administrator everytime when I want to use VS.Net. So unless someone here can provide me with an answer to these problems, I consider this as a serious bug in VS.Net 2005 SP1.
I recommend you try to start Visual Studio 2010 IDE under administrator and to see whether Visual Studio is able to determine mapped drive. Yes, in Windows Explorer I can see my drive P: as mapped by the subst command. Thus, I think Visual Studio 2010 can detect mapped drive automatically.
