However, that is not a prefect solution, as certain software we use really want to see the host on the corporate network (10.9.8.xxx).

I've reset the virtual network defaults and even completely uninstalled and reinstalled vmware workstation to no avail. There's a third computer on the network which is able to ping both of the vms and the host machine.
