I reinstalled asla-utils package and ran "rm /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.local.conf", which fixed the problem in 12.04. Add User To Audio Group What has changed from 12.04 to 12.10? Then click on the 'apply' button and again assign a shortcut key to it (as said above), and this time, use the volume up keyboard shortcut combination that you want. something which prevent all sound to work, I've moved it down and test that nest is working, all is fine now!
