Last updated: June 3 2016 I just ran into a crazy error related to Tomcat and DBCP connection pooling. Put your driver JAR file only in Tomcat's lib/ directory. You can do this by creating a src/main/webapp/META-INF/context.xml (I'm assuming you're using the standard maven directory structure - if not, then the META-INF folder should be a sibling of your WEB-INF I have also tried putting this in my WEB-INF/lib, and even my JDK lib directories.
